Aerial Photography

FAA Part 107 Licensed & Insured

We've maintained a current FAA Part 107 license since 2018 and carry General Liability insurance specific to sUAV operations. In the scenario that our scheduled flights are impeded by flight restrictions, we will coordinate our flight with the FAA and affected airport operations.

Under certain conditions the FAA requires us to have a pilot-in-command as well as a spotter. Under rare circumstances FAA approval could take 30+ days.

File Format - Aerial Imagery

Most aerial-based photo files will be at least 18" X 12" @ 350 dpi. They will be saved as a 16-bit, sRGB .TIF file, approximately 60 megabytes each.

A smaller JPEG file of each photo will be created for your ease of viewing and distribution. Each JPEG will be approximately two megabytes.

Site Coordination

For optimal lighting, exterior and aerial photographs are typically performed in the early hours of the morning or evenings. We'll coordinate with you and your facility's representative for any security or access issues.

It's likely we'll make three visits to your location. The first is to scout-out the site-specific requirements, watch lighting patterns and ensure everything is in place. The second and third visits will be for photography during morning and evening.

Aerial Philosophy

In the hands of a professional photographer a UAV (drone) is a powerful tool. We use them throughout the photography process, including to quickly scout large project areas for ideal land-based photography.

While the camera systems of most UAVs are not as powerful as land-based SLRs, the UAVs make up for the difference by providing perspectives and compositions that land-based photography can't achieve.

Our general practice is to supplement land-based photos with aerial photos; delivering a seamless gallery that accurately represents the scale and quality of the assignment.
